Electronic Payments Reference Guide

A brief description of the ATM, debit and credit card donor program at our church.

Some have requested the option of being able to use their ATM, debt cards, and credit cards for their church donations. We have found a viable solution, and we now are able to accept ATM, debit and credit card payments for tithe, offerings and other church donations. We are not encouraging you to increase your debt by using your credit card, but have implemented the program for those who want to use their debit and credit cards for their church donations. We encourage you to be a responsible steward

How to Make a Debit or Card Donation

If you would like to use your VISA, MasterCard or Discover Card for your church donations, simply complete the Electronic Donation Payment Authorization form and put it in the offering plate. Use the same form if you would like to use your ATM or debit card instead of writing a check or carrying cash. The Treasurer will collect the forms and submit the payments for processing by your bank or credit card company. ATM and debit cards are a more recent invention than credit cards and are not as standardized, and we can only process ATM and debit cards that have the VISA or MasterCard logo on them.

Your ATM, Debit and Credit Card Statement

When you receive your monthly card statement, the amount that you authorized our church to debit your bank account or charge to your credit card will be listed as “MyChurchDonations.” The name of our church will not be on your monthly card statement. If you have any questions about the charges, please contact our church office.

Receipts

You will also receive a receipt from our church office in the same manner as if you made your donation by check. Your ATM, debit or credit card statement is backup documentation of your payment, but is not your receipt. Please let us know if you have additional needs regarding your receipt.

Reoccurring Donations

If you have chosen to make reoccurring donations and have authorized the church to make reoccurring charges to your debit or credit card, we will only do so within the time frame  and  the amounts  that  you  have authorized. The advantage of this for the church is that we can better function within our budget with monthly donations we can count on. The advantage of reoccurring charges for you is ease and simplicity.  After prayerful consideration you can make a pledge and it will be automated for you on any schedule of donations you desire.

Right to Change Your Mind

You are not locked-in, just because you authorize reoccurring donations. You still have the right to change your mind.  Of course it makes monthly planning for the church easier if everyone is willing to donate according to their means and their expressed intentions.  However, if your circumstances change you can rescind your authorization for any donations not yet charged to your debit or credit card. Simply call the office and inform us of your decision, then follow it up with a written notice. It is just that simple.

Future Donations

If you have opted to make a one time donation and then decide at a later time to make another donation, simply fill out a new authorization form and direct us about your desires.

Thanks

Thank you for supporting our church with your donation.

Thoughts for Contemplation

“Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.  And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9: 7, 8 NIV

“Give the people these instructions, too, so that no one
may be open to blame. If anyone does not provide for his
relatives, and  especially for his immediate family, he has
denied the faith and is  worse than an unbeliever.”

1 Timothy 5:7,8.

“The disciples, each according to his ability, decided to
provide help for the brothers living in Judea
.” Acts 11:29

“The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous
give generously.”
Psalm 37:21.

“One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.  A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed." Proverbs 11: 24, 25 NIV
